Music

Curriculum Leader: Miss Callaby

At Kidgate Primary Academy, we believe in the power of music to communicate when words fail. Music is a vital part of school life, offering children opportunities to sing, create, and listen regularly to a wide range of composers. It supports emotional well-being, creativity, teamwork, confidence, and self-esteem.

Music is taught progressively across the school using the Kapow curriculum, which includes skill and knowledge-based units to engage and inspire pupils. Weekly lessons are delivered by specialist teachers from Lincolnshire Music Service and Rock Steady, ensuring high-quality provision. Beyond classroom lessons, children participate in singing assemblies and can join the Musical Theatre Club, which performs within the community. These enrichments expose pupils to a wide range of genres and composers, nurturing curiosity and appreciation for all forms of music.
