Year 3

Welcome to Year 3!

In English, the children will continue to build on their phonics knowledge from Key Stage 1 and apply it across a range of texts and writing styles. In Maths, they will develop their understanding of number, working confidently with three-digit numbers, and learning new strategies for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. A key focus this year will also be learning times tables from 2 to 12.

Across the wider curriculum, the children will explore exciting topics about the world around them. In Science, they will study forces, light, plants, and the importance of bones. In History, they will discover life in the Stone Age, Egyptians, and Romans, while in Geography, they will learn about Antarctica, mountains, and volcanoes. Our Art, DT and Music lessons will give the children the opportunity to show their creative sides in a wide variety of ways. Physical Education will be taught by a qualified sports coach, while PSHE will provide valuable discussions and experiences.
