Welcome

Welcome to Kidgate Academy’s website, where you can explore our vibrant and nurturing learning community. As a larger than average primary academy serving over 400 pupils aged 3 to 11, we take pride in offering a supportive environment where every pupil is encouraged to grown and learn
Situated in the heart of our local town, Kidgate Academy is set within spacious, welcoming grounds that provide ample opportunities for learning and play. Our school’s strong reputation is founded on inclusivity and high standards for all pupils. Our dedicated and highly motivated staff maintain high expectations to ensure every pupil’s needs are met and talents nurtured. Each year group benefits from at least two teachers and teaching assistants working collaboratively to deliver a curriculum tailored to individual learning styles and abilities.
The leadership team at Kidgate Academy is passionate about creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment.
- Susan Cook is the Principal and Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Sadie Davidson and Lyndsey Kirk are Vice Principals and KS2 Phase Leaders (part-time).
- Julia Greenfield is Assistant Principal, SENCO, and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Officer.
- Heather Collingwood is the Phase Leader for KS1, and Sophie Skipworth Phase Leader for Early Years.
Together, they ensure the school remains focused on our vision and values, driving continuous improvement and fostering a culture where every pupil is respectful, resilient and kind.
We believe learning should be an exciting journey for every child. Our staff have an excellent understanding of how children learn best and use regular assessments to plan lessons that are engaging and appropriately challenging. Pupils with high ability and particular talents receive targeted support to develop their skills further, while those with additional needs benefit from personalised support and carefully designed learning.
Our inclusive approach ensures all pupils are supported to achieve their potential in an environment where they feel safe and valued. Our commitment to our teaching philosophy, ensuring every voice is heard and every child’s learning journey is respected. Throughout the year, there will be a wealth of opportunities for us to liaise and work together through emails, newsletters, events, assemblies, homework and parental meetings.
We also have an increasingly active presence on social media to celebrate the achievements of our children. Our website is designed to keep parents and the wider community informed and involved. From curriculum updates to upcoming events and celebrating pupils’ achievements, we encourage you to add our website to your favourites and visit regularly.
