Vision & Values

Vision & Values

During the summer of 2025, we took the opportunity to revisit and refresh our core values. This important process involved close collaboration with both staff and pupils to reflect on what truly matters in daily life at Kidgate Academy. Together, we identified the key areas that should guide our actions and attitudes across all aspects of school life.

Our vision—growing kind hearts and curious minds—is supported by three fundamental values that underpin our community: respect, resilience, and kindness. We foster an environment where everyone’s voice is heard and valued, encouraging pupils to appreciate diversity and show consideration for others. We inspire pupils to embrace challenges with determination and a positive mindset, helping them develop confidence and perseverance. We promote a culture of empathy and caring, where pupils and staff alike support one another and contribute to a nurturing school community.

Our values help shape a respectful and inclusive environment where every pupil feels safe and motivated to learn. We encourage pupils to develop resilience by celebrating effort and learning from setbacks, preparing them for future challenges. Kindness is modelled and celebrated throughout the school, helping to build strong relationships and a sense of belonging.

By growing kind hearts and curious minds, and demonstrating respect, resilience, and kindness every day, we create a positive and inspiring place for pupils to learn and grow.

What are our ultimate goals?

Our vision and values are linked explicitly to our curriculum which has been organised to inspire and challenge all learners, aspiring to be ambitious, broad and balanced. It is our aim that all children will be provided with wider opportunities to develop life-long learning skills and develop their own interests to succeed in the future.

We are dedicated to nurturing kind hearts and curious minds, fostering an environment where every pupil is encouraged to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. Our vision is to develop pupils who are not only academically capable but also compassionate, respectful, and resilient, equipping them with the skills and values necessary to succeed in secondary education and beyond.

Our curriculum is broad, balanced, and inclusive, designed to inspire and challenge every pupil, including those with additional needs and English as an additional language. We place a strong emphasis on deep learning and high aspirations, ensuring that pupils develop key life skills such as teamwork, independence, communication, and problem-solving. Alongside academic achievement, we prioritise the social, moral, spiritual, and cultural development of all pupils, promoting equality of opportunity and providing tailored support to meet individual needs. This holistic approach ensures that pupils are well-prepared for the challenges of the future while feeling valued and supported throughout their time with us.

Central to our ethos are the core values of respect, resilience, and kindness, which permeate all aspects of school life. These values guide our pupils to become tolerant, courageous, and caring individuals who are ready to make a positive impact on the wider community. We believe in fostering a strong sense of belonging and responsibility, encouraging pupils to take on leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to school life. Our supportive and nurturing environment helps pupils to flourish not only academically but also personally, developing confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Ultimately, our vision is to fully prepare pupils for their secondary education and the world beyond, supporting them to be respectful, resilient and kind in everything they do.
