RSE - Relationships, Sex & Health Education

Curriculum Leader: Mrs Neal

At Kidgate Primary Academy, we recognise that children today are growing up in a complex, digitally connected world. While this brings exciting opportunities, it also presents challenges and risks. Our Relationships, Sex and Health Education (RSHE) programme helps children develop the confidence, self-awareness, and skills to make positive decisions about their health, wellbeing, and relationships.

RSHE is taught within the PSHE and Citizenship curriculum, guided by the DfE’s framework. It covers physical, moral, and emotional development, promoting respect, care, and understanding in relationships, while supporting children to move confidently from childhood into adolescence. Health education equips pupils with knowledge to make informed choices about their own wellbeing.

Our programme is inclusive and sensitive, meeting the needs of all pupils, including those with SEND, and respects the diverse backgrounds and beliefs of our school community. Lessons are age-appropriate, objective, and designed to empower children to make responsible, well-informed decisions for their lives.
