Kidgate Academy and the Lincolnshire Gateway Academies Trust (LGAT)

Kidgate Academy is now part of the Lincolnshire Gateway Academies Trust (LGAT) which formed in 2012 and now comprises eleven schools across Lincolnshire, North East Lincolnshire and North Lincolnshire including five secondary schools and six primary schools.

Curriculum Development

Over the past few years, the curriculum at Kidgate has been significantly developed, with the leadership team reviewing every aspect of how we design and deliver a broad and balanced education. This has required substantial support and investment from the Trust, not only through training but also by providing high-quality physical and digital resources. This support has now been fully extended to Kidgate Academy.

In the past year, there has been further investment in reading resources, both hard-copy library books and digital systems such as Read Write Inc, supporting phonics delivery and fostering a love of reading while improving standards and outcomes.

Central and Local Leadership Support

Every Principal works closely with the CEO and the central Trust team on key areas including HR, Finance, and IT. Leaders meet fortnightly, but support and advice are always just a phone call away, ensuring strong provision for each academy. This allows Principals and senior teams to focus on education while administrative services are supported centrally. At the same time, each Principal retains autonomy to make decisions that best suit their own school.

Collaboration Across the Trust

A further strength of LGAT is the close collaboration between academies. Primary Academy Principals meet weekly and remain in regular contact, sharing ideas, good practice, and learning which is passed on to senior leaders and staff across all schools.

Staff Support and Development

LGAT invests heavily in professional development, offering whole-Trust training packages, bespoke support for individual staff, and tailored training for each academy.

Individual Academy Approach

It is important to emphasise that each academy is unique, and LGAT does not operate a 'one size fits all' approach. While we share a common ethos and many practices, every decision and initiative is tailored to meet the needs of the children in each individual academy.
