Curriculum Leader: Miss Dowlman

At Kidgate Academy, pupils are encouraged to grow into life-long learners who can confidently use their mathematical skills to solve real-life problems, both now and in the future. Through carefully planned lessons, they are provided with a secure foundation in number, reasoning and problem solving, enabling them to make sense of the world around them. Pupils are supported to develop resilience and perseverance, recognising that making mistakes is an important step in learning.

The academy’s approach nurtures curiosity and creativity, showing pupils that mathematics is not just about answers, but about exploring patterns, asking questions and finding different strategies. With encouragement and guidance, they build self-belief and understand that anyone, with effort and determination, can be a mathematician. By developing these skills and attitudes, pupils leave Kidgate Academy ready to apply their mathematical understanding with confidence, independence and enthusiasm throughout their lives.
