E-Safety
E-Safety
At Kidgate Academy, the safety and well-being of our pupils and adults is at the heart of everything we do. As a primary school we understand the vital importance of equipping our pupils with the knowledge and skills to navigate the digital world safely.
Safety, especially online safety, is a key focus throughout the year. It is integrated into our lessons as part of the Computing curriculum, ensuring pupils learn how to protect themselves, respect others, and behave responsibly when using technology. We believe that fostering resilience and kindness online is just as important as in the real world, helping pupils develop a strong moral compass and respectful attitudes.
Beyond classroom learning, Kidgate Academy actively participates in various events throughout the year that promote the importance of e-safety. These activities are designed to engage pupils in meaningful ways, helping them understand the risks and empowering them to make safe choices. For example, pupils might take part in themed assemblies, workshops, or competitions that reinforce positive online behaviours. We also work closely with trusted external agencies who provide expert talks and workshops tailored to different age groups. These sessions offer pupils valuable insights into issues such as cyberbullying, safeguarding personal information, and recognising harmful content. By collaborating with these professionals, we enrich our pupils’ understanding and strengthen our community's shared responsibility to keep everyone safe.
At Kidgate Academy, we understand that e-safety is a shared commitment between school, pupils, and parents. We encourage parents to engage with us on this important topic, supporting the messages pupils receive at school and helping to foster a safe online environment at home. Our approach reflects our respect for every member of our community and our determination to build resilience in all pupils to face the challenges of the digital age. Together, by nurturing kindness and respect online, we prepare our pupils to be responsible digital citizens who contribute positively to the world around them.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about our commitment to online safety. Staying Safe Online
E-Safety encompasses Internet technologies and electronic communications such as mobile phones and wireless technology. It highlights the need to educate children and young people about the benefits and risks of using new technology and provides safeguards and awareness for users to enable them to control their online experiences.
The links at the bottom of the screen will take you to a wide range of recognised groups and organisations dedicated to keeping children safe when using the internet or other forms of electronic communication.
