At Kidgate Academy, our vision is simple but ambitious: Growing Kind Hearts and Curious Minds.
Our vision and values reflect what we want for every child at Kidgate. They were developed through consultation with pupils and staff and continue to shape the culture, expectations and everyday life of our school.
At the heart of our community are three core values: Respect, Resilience and Kindness. These values are not simply words; they underpin the way we learn, behave, communicate and care for one another.
Respect means valuing ourselves, others and the world around us. We teach pupils to listen, consider different viewpoints, celebrate diversity and understand that everyone has the right to feel safe, included and valued.
Resilience means approaching challenges with determination and believing that effort makes a difference. We encourage pupils to persevere, learn from mistakes and setbacks, and develop the confidence and independence they need to become successful learners.
Kindness is at the heart of our school. We teach pupils to show empathy, compassion and consideration through their words and actions. Kindness is modelled by adults, recognised in our pupils and reflected in the positive relationships we build across our school community.
Our vision and values are woven through our curriculum, behaviour expectations, relationships and wider opportunities. Together, they help us create a calm, safe and inclusive environment in which pupils know what is expected of them and are supported to succeed.
Through Growing Kind Hearts and Curious Minds, we want every pupil to leave Kidgate as a respectful, resilient and kind young person: curious about the world, confident in themselves and ready for the next stage of their education.
What are our ultimate goals?
Our vision and values are linked explicitly to our curriculum which has been organised to inspire and challenge all learners, aspiring to be ambitious, broad and balanced. It is our aim that all children will be provided with wider opportunities to develop life-long learning skills and develop their own interests to succeed in the future.
We are dedicated to nurturing kind hearts and curious minds, fostering an environment where every pupil is encouraged to reach their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. Our vision is to develop pupils who are not only academically capable but also compassionate, respectful, and resilient, equipping them with the skills and values necessary to succeed in secondary education and beyond.
Our curriculum is broad, balanced, and inclusive, designed to inspire and challenge every pupil, including those with additional needs and English as an additional language. We place a strong emphasis on deep learning and high aspirations, ensuring that pupils develop key life skills such as teamwork, independence, communication, and problem-solving. Alongside academic achievement, we prioritise the social, moral, spiritual, and cultural development of all pupils, promoting equality of opportunity and providing tailored support to meet individual needs. This holistic approach ensures that pupils are well-prepared for the challenges of the future while feeling valued and supported throughout their time with us.
Central to our ethos are the core values of respect, resilience, and kindness, which permeate all aspects of school life. These values guide our pupils to become tolerant, courageous, and caring individuals who are ready to make a positive impact on the wider community. We believe in fostering a strong sense of belonging and responsibility, encouraging pupils to take on leadership roles and contribute meaningfully to school life. Our supportive and nurturing environment helps pupils to flourish not only academically but also personally, developing confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning.
Ultimately, our vision is to fully prepare pupils for their secondary education and the world beyond, supporting them to be respectful, resilient and kind in everything they do.
